Unless you talk to your kids, they have no idea. These shows our kids watch, particularly when they're young, set up a reality for our kids that, if mirrored enough by the real world, they assume is correct. I'd even rather she watch Phineas and Ferb than this show.įor all of you who say "Relax, it's just a show" in gonna put in the brakes right here.

I also don't like the inherent message that a nice boy is an oblivious one.
#SHIMMER AND SHINE EPISODES ONLINE HOW TO#
Not to mention that self advocacy and how to tell someone that they've crossed your boundaries is left out- and those are the real tools for learning how to deal with conflict, not genie magic and by making someone do something. Now this show is nothing more than a "Winx" junior- training girls to please boys and manipulate others. The "evil foe" is an outdated concept that should be left behind. I want my kids to focus on making themselves better people, not in undoing someone else's actions all the time. Now it's no longer about finding creative ways to fix problems but using powers to stop someone else from doing something. The addition of an evil for completely ruined this show. Again, Daniel Tiger's neighborhood is much much better. Solving problems doesn't involve "stopping" people but by communicating with them and finding a solution that's works.

It's possible to have a disagreement without making someone "evil" Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood does a great job of this.ģ. Then they changed the animation and added an "evil" character. Ok for my almost 3 year old to watch, cute sparkly stuff, and a token, if not addled, little boy that never notices anything.īut I could overlook this a little because she loves the show. I hope my opinion can help you to decide whether this show is suited for your children.Īlthough I don't like the cultural appropriation (just because the creator listed is Iranian doesn't make the rest of the show or its impression ok). I don't think I would like my future children to watch this, but there's nothing outright wrong with it. So she is getting something positive out of it.Īt the end of the day, that's what matters. And yet, I am giving it a 3 star rating because I asked her what she liked about it the best, and she said "Everything!" and when I questioned her further, she said she likes it when they fix their mistakes. Especially when said 6 year old sings the songs. I've never done this sort of review, and I can't tell if I am just being picky or if my dislike is valid, but I rarely dislike a show this much. I don't think they should be taught that it's normal to make mistakes every single time you ever try anything, or as long as you fix it later. Yes, children need to learn that mistakes are natural and can even become good in the end. If I asked my friends for favors and they ruined it every time, I think I would stop asking! I just feel like their wishes should turn out right on occasion. What's the point of saying "you can only have 3 wishes per day" then?Īnd on top of that, they make a huge mess with each wish, and at the end of the show there are no true consequences for anyone. When her genie friends show up, they give her three wishes per day. Third, as mentioned in the official review, Leah is often doing adult things like making cupcakes even though she quite clearly has no idea what she is doing. Is it normal to summon your friends? When she did in at least one of the episodes, the genies immediately dropped everything they were doing to go to her. I think it's just a bit odd and unrealistic. However, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.įirst off, I don't particularly care for shows where the parents are never present. My future sister-in-law (6 years old) absolutely adores this show.
